Distinguish the flags beginning with D

Dominica and the Dominican Republic have similar English names but very different flags. Look for the parrot in the centre of Dominica's green flag. The Dominican Republic uses a white cross to divide red and blue quarters. Comparing those central features is more reliable than remembering the names alone.

The other entries offer contrasting layouts: Denmark has a white cross on red, Djibouti has a white triangle beside blue and green bands, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo has a diagonal red band and a yellow star on blue.

For an identification exercise, first sort these flags by crosses, triangles and diagonal bands. Then open the full image to check smaller details. Use the complete English country name when searching: the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo have separate entries and separate flag designs.
