Whether you're an avid traveler or simply seeking to broaden your geographical knowledge, these countries that start with the letter V offer a wealth of experiences and discoveries. They represent a mix of cultures, climates, and landscapes that highlight the diversity of our world. Consider exploring these fascinating destinations and immerse yourself in all they have to offer.

Four ways to recognise the V flags

Vanuatu has a branching, sideways Y layout and a detailed emblem near the hoist. Vatican City has yellow and white vertical fields with an emblem on the white side. Venezuela has yellow, blue and red horizontal bands with an arc of stars. Vietnam has one large yellow star on red.

Venezuela and Vietnam both use stars, but their number, arrangement and background are different. Vatican City's pale colours can be difficult to distinguish on a white screen, so look for the edge of the image before comparing its shape. For Vanuatu, the emblem deserves a larger preview than a small menu icon can provide.

Use the country links for full-size files and individual explanations. If your goal is identification, begin with a flat image showing the entire flag. Shaped or waving artwork can be useful for a creative project after you have confirmed which flag it represents.
