Zambia and Zimbabwe: flags with birds

Zambia and Zimbabwe both include a bird, but the position and surrounding design are different. Zambia's mostly green flag has an orange eagle above a block of red, black and orange near the outer edge. Zimbabwe has several horizontal stripes and a white triangle near the hoist containing the Zimbabwe Bird and a red star.

When identifying these flags, look first at the broad layout: a large green field or a striped field with a white triangle. Then check where the bird sits. This is usually clearer than trying to recognise the bird alone in a very small thumbnail.

For a side-by-side comparison, open both country pages and choose flat images that show the entire design. Keep each flag's proportions and give the smaller emblem enough space to be seen. The individual galleries show the available dimensions, while the articles explain the background of each design. A shaped icon can be a useful decoration, but it may crop the outer detail needed for identification.
