Identify Jamaica, Japan and Jordan by shape

The J flags provide three clear starting points for learning flag design. Jamaica uses a gold diagonal cross with green and black triangles. Japan places a red disc in the centre of a white field. Jordan combines horizontal black, white and green bands with a red triangle and a white star.

These outlines remain recognisable even before you read the country names: a diagonal cross, a central disc and a triangle beside stripes. When comparing Jordan with another flag in similar colours, inspect the star as well as the order of the bands. When comparing Japan with other disc designs, check both the background colour and the disc's position.

For a simple classroom activity, hide the captions and name the three layouts first. Then open each country article to connect the design with its background. Use the plain flag image for this exercise; shadows and waving effects can make straight edges and central placement harder to judge.
